Your first find is a small part of something extraordinary. Work it free from the stone, brush away the remaining sediment, and bring it home. Fit each discovery to its museum support and watch an ancient animal take shape.

Work with the stone

Start at Desert Flats, where you can work around a deposit on the ground and move into a closer view for delicate recovery. Both views follow the same specimen and the work you've already done. Later regions bring different excavation conditions and deposits to investigate.

Use broad strikes, a fine chisel and a brush to uncover fossil parts. Careful work preserves condition. Optional guided aiming and brushing offer extra help, while upgraded tools make your field kit more capable.

Find the missing piece

Explore seven regions and collect 122 fossil parts and groups across fifteen prehistoric species. Research your discoveries, pursue missing pieces, and use spare specimens to fund the next expedition. Meet the townspeople, fulfil requests, collect minerals, and improve your equipment and transport.

Make the galleries your own

Build exhibits across First Discoveries, the Hall of Giants, and Ocean & Sky. Inspect individual pieces, choose display lighting and plinth finishes, and add fern or stone decorations at fitted positions. Improve visitor facilities as your collection grows.

Welcome the town

Complete six exhibits, represent all three galleries, and open the Volcanic Basin route to earn your museum's Grand Opening. Keep exploring afterward to finish the remaining exhibits, research and collection milestones.

Fossil Bound is a single-player fossil-collecting adventure with painted environments and no combat. Expeditions still involve energy, equipment and resources; optional assistance lets you choose how much help you want with excavation.
